Host Partners has Ceased Trading
Posted by Russ Michaels on 10 August 2016 10:12 PM

It is with deep regret and sadness that we must inform you that Host Partners has now ceased trading due to insolvency.

Unfortunately the company has insufficient realisable assets and no funds with which to appoint an insolvency practitioner and thereby initiate a voluntary liquidation. The company therefore, will now remain in a state of ‘limbo’ until either Companies House strike it from the register or a creditor winds it up through the High Court, leading to the Official Receiver being appointed as liquidator.

Our support helpdesk will remain online until the end of August to assist customers. Our data center CoreIX.net have informed us that they will be turning off servers on 5th September.

I realize this will most likely come as a shock to you, and you may be panicking over what to do, but a rescue plan has been put in place to assist any customers who need it, so if you need help with your migrations please contact Zen Managed Services  who will assist you in moving your services , as well as your domain names, Google apps etc. Please email support@zenmsp.uk or call 01843 808401 for advice. Please bear in mind that the phone line will likely get pretty busy as a result of this email, so some patience may be required.

Upgrade MSSQL 2008 R2 to MSSQL 2012 in SemiD-SQL1 Server
Posted by Vrajesh Vora on 16 May 2016 06:22 PM

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 is a full-featured relational database management system that offers a numerous features and administration tools to ease of database development, maintenance and administration. With an innovative user interface, powerful remote management tools, new features, major enhancements to existing ones. It enables high-performance and supports high-scale workload and infrastructure innovation across storage, and virtualization.

As a part of IT infrastructure upgrade process, we will be upgrading the SQL 2008 R2 Web Edition to MSSQL 2012 Web Edition in SemiD-SQL1 server. This will necessitate a restart after completion. Unfortunately, this also means that MSSQL service hosted on the server will also be affected and websites which are using SemiD-SQL1 MSSQL service will also be affected.

This will be taking place on 19th May 2016, Thursday at 8:00 PM (GMT) and services will be down or show intermittent errors for 2-3 hours after.

Development Testing

As per our best practice standards, we have created a development environment with identical configuration as our SemiD-SQL1 MSSQL so that we may predetermine the outcome of an upgrade. We have successfully upgraded the MSSQL 2008 to MSSQL 2012 in Dev platform and no issues have been reported so it has been cleared for release in the production environment.

Disaster Recovery

We do have image backup of each servers with 14 days retention period. In case of the service/server disaster situation, we will restore the server from the latest available backup. Please note that we do keep the backup prior upgrade/migrate any services or operating system in server.
